PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Discover the parts of projects composed over the last 4 years that I am most proud of.

YEAR 3:

MARKET & GAP ANALYSIS

The first project of final year at Ravensbourne is marked with a unit called Market & Gap Analysis. This project is the beginning of the Final Major Project and looks to initiate research to establish a gap in the wider fashion and services market. My chosen gap in the market materialised as a new business for PVH Corporation’s Calvin Klein called ‘Calvin Klein CK613’; a new brand which will restore the halo effect for the Calvin Klein business.

INDUSTRY PLACEMENT:

HAMID FABRICS LTD

Towards the end of second year, I was presented the opportunity to enter a competition to win a placement with a fabric mill based in Bangladesh by the name of Hamid Fabrics Ltd, a part of the Mahin Group. After successfully winning this competition, myself and two other students were flown out to Dhaka to work directly with Hamid associates on a project which looked to explore the business marketing potential with the key aim of attracting new clients.

PVH CORP. TASK :

UK MSW SHIRT PROJECT

In the summer of 2017, I was approached by consultancy Shiner-hill Design to research and design a report exploring the UK menswear woven shirt market for their client, the Heritage Brands wing of PVH Corporation based in New York City, United States. This developed targeted research skills, collaboration with a business, analysis of the market place and stylised report composition. The report went on to be submitted to the relevant PVH design teams.

YEAR 2:

CREATIVE COLLAB.

Creative Collaboration allowed me to collaborate with a live industry client for the first time. Our task was to re-energise VF Corporation’s Wrangler by collaborating with fellow year 2 designers. My team's re-energised proposition was named Wrangler | Modern, the new era of wrangler aimed at the classic female consumer who champions craftsmanship and quality. Outcomes of the live brief were then presented back to senior VF Corporation leadership, press and industry in the form of a trade show at the edgy OXO Tower, London.

YEAR 1:

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

My personal favourite project of my degree, Buying and Product Development, allowed me to explore the entire creative, sourcing and selling process from concept to consumer. After selecting to base my project on PVH Corporation’s Calvin Klein, I developed three trend concepts and relevant collections. After developing accurate costing, buying and merchandising plans, one trend concept and its relevant collection was realised through a developed critical path, technical pack and distribution plan.

YEAR 1:

BRANDED SHOP REPORT

One of the first projects I created for my degree, the branded shop report from year one challenged me to research a chosen brand and analyse it’s strengths and weaknesses in the form of a competitive shop report. I chose to base my research on PVH Corporation’s Tommy Hilfiger, specifically their higher tier store in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent, U.K.. This project not only allowed for critique of a specific store but also the collection as a whole which is crucial when considering points for improvement.

OTHER PROJECTS

BRANDED BUYING & PROMOTION

Branded buying and promotion saw me take on the role of a wholesale buyer for a department store. Key lessons included considerations undertaken for a wholesale business, consumer profiling and identifying gaps in an assortment. The project concluded with recommendations to fill this gap through the introduction of a new brand to the wholesalers portfolio.

VISUAL MERCHANDISING

The Visual Merchandising unit of my degree allowed me to collaborate with an independent retailer for the first time. This was crucial to developing my understanding of how smaller scale businesses approach growth and buying decisions. The opportunity to present our research and recommendations back to the business was essential to the success of this project.

TREND FORECASTING

The first project to be completed on my degree is often the best one to look back upon to gauge growth and development, Trend Forecasting is exactly that. This project demanded creative thinking to be merged with observational analysis which resulted in a trend pack complete with forecasted fabrications, silhouettes and colours.
